Stromal Tumors
These tumors arise from the connective tissue cells that hold the ovary together. These cells are also responsible for the production of female hormones, namely estrogen and progesterone. These types of tumors are extremely rare. The most common of these uncommon tumors are granulosa-theca tumors and Sertoli-Leydig cell tumors. These are low-grade cancers, and most of these patients are diagnosed at an early stage, because of the hormonal effect of the tumors. About 70 percent of these tumors are diagnosed while it is still at stage I.
